The Camper

The Camper is an apocalyptic solo journaling RPG played with a deck of cards, a block tower, and a journal. 

In the apocalypse, the camping trailer you and your group have been staying in was attacked by zombies.  All of the members of your group are dead. All except one - your lifelong best friend survived the attack but was bitten. He is now unconscious and will stay in this state as he slowly turns undead. 

There's a horde of zombies outside your camper now, scratching at the walls of your barricades. Can you survive long enough to fix your old camper radio and call for help? Or will you succumb to the same fate as your friends?

This game is about survival, perseverance, and a descent into madness.

I wanted to put a focus on isolation and storytelling so I used The Wretched and Alone SRD as a base for systems and rules. I hoped to accomplish an apocalyptic take on the original outer space setting of The Wretched. I also used this SRD to let the player write their own story. Initiating player worldbuilding through the use of written prompts given, they can hopefully build their own character and history.
